I made something and it wasn’t terrible

Cooking for other people can be nerve-racking.  My kitchen skills are quite limited so I always worry that I’ll mess up whatever I am making or that people won’t like the dish that I’ve made.

I have pretty simple taste, the food I make for myself (as you may have seen) is very basic which is why it always makes me a bit nervous to cook or prepare food for others.

meal prep lite

I often receive inquiries about the food I make for myself each week. Usually this is followed by said inquirer lamenting that he or she doesn’t have time to shop and cook meals at home. I get it. And I totally agree, it’s difficult.

food for clear skin

One of the reasons I first became interested in nutrition was because of this notion that food can be healing. The idea that what we put into our bodies can have a direct link to our overall health and wellness. I suppose these days that sounds pretty obvious to most people, but before Whole Foods became so popular and wellness was such a buzzword, it didn’t seem so linear to me.

Summer has made her presence known. After a mild few weeks, it appears that the heat is here to stay.

Temps  in NYC have been in the mid-90’s with high levels of humidity. Just gross. Frizzy hair, sweaty faces, stinky subway rides – the whole deal.

Good Morning friends!

Hope everyone enjoyed the weekeend. I did. I worked a little, saw some friends and on Saturday I ran in the 5 mile NYRR Pride Run. It was a great race, lots of spirit and an overall good time.

Meal Prep

Let’s talk meal prep. It’s no secret that I am not a great chef. And I am not a big fan of cooking elaborate meals. My idea of cooking is more like “ingredient assembling” and so you’ll find me just throwing together meals at home or quickly putting something together that is portable so I can eat it at work.

Nike Women 10K

This past weekend I participated in the Nike Women 10K.

This race was done virtually, participants just had to log their miles at some point between March 9th and 10th through their Nike+ app.

At first I thought the concept was sort of silly but then the more I thought about it, the more I kind of liked the idea.

where’s the beef

Many people know that I am an advocate for cutting back on animal products. Not necessarily cutting them out entirely, but rather reducing consumption of meat and dairy and increasing consumption of vegetables, whole grains, and vegetarian sources protein.

On willpower…

I am currently reading an interesting book that doesn’t really have anything to do with food or nutrition but there was one section about willpower that I thought was particularly interesting and somewhat relevant to wellness and healthy living.
