Cooking for other people can be nerve-racking. My kitchen skills are quite limited so I always worry that I’ll mess up whatever I am making or that people won’t like the dish that I’ve made.
I have pretty simple taste, the food I make for myself (as you may have seen) is very basic which is why it always makes me a bit nervous to cook or prepare food for others.
“Aw honey, you baked”
I often receive inquiries about the food I make for myself each week. Usually this is followed by said inquirer lamenting that he or she doesn’t have time to shop and cook meals at home. I get it. And I totally agree, it’s difficult.
Good Morning friends!
Hope everyone enjoyed the weekeend. I did. I worked a little, saw some friends and on Saturday I ran in the 5 mile NYRR Pride Run. It was a great race, lots of spirit and an overall good time.

Let’s talk meal prep. It’s no secret that I am not a great chef. And I am not a big fan of cooking elaborate meals. My idea of cooking is more like “ingredient assembling” and so you’ll find me just throwing together meals at home or quickly putting something together that is portable so I can eat it at work.
Do something nice for yourself today.
If you have been in Starbuck’s recently, you may have noticed that they launched a line of cold-pressed juices in partnership with the west coast company Evolution Fresh. It appears that they are trying to become competitors in the pressed juice marketplace alongside companies like BluePrint and Organic Avenue.
Given my love of all things green, particularly green juice, I had to give it a try.
For the most part, I am a planner. I guess you could call me “Type A”. I like to be prepared, show up early, and make to-do lists. However, when it comes to train travel, somehow I am always running out the door five minutes late, disheveled, arriving at the station breathless, with my scarf dragging on the floor, and sweating despite the fact that it is 30 degrees outside.
In fact that happened just a few hours ago.
These days when it comes to meals, my priorities are that they be:
- easy to prepare
- somewhat tasty (a foodie, I am not)
For as long as I can remember, I have always had a sweet tooth.
I absolutely cannot relate to people who would rather have a cheese board than dessert.
That blows my mind.
As the weather gets colder and we start to approach the holidays, my diet shift a bit. I start craving different foods and as certain fruits and vegetables come into season ,and it’s fun to change up the meal routine a bit, right?
