Quinoa is totally having a moment.

You may or may not have heard that the United Nations deemed 2013 to be the “International Year of Quinoa”. This grain-like superfood has definitely made its presence known over the past few years and somehow surpassed acai and kale to steal the 2013 crown.

Nutrient Density

If you are cruising through your local Whole Foods you may notice that many of the produce items have a numerical “ANDI” score and are tagged with the “Health Starts Here” signs. For a long time I didn’t pay attention to this until one day I took another look and realized that ANDI actually meant something and wasn’t Whole Foods just trying to tout their whole foodiness.

Expo West Recap and Coconuts

Last month I had the privilege of attending the Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim. While there, not only was I able to learn about a bunch of exciting products but I was also able to attend several great education sessions. One particularly informative session was about blogging and how to get a fledgling blog going and generate interest in your site. The number one faux pas the speaker said a blogger should never, ever commit was to let there be a long lag time or erratic spacing between posts. Woops.
