Let’s Get Mâche’d

Have you heard of mâche? Me either. Well, not until recently that is.

Seems fancy though, right? Upon discovering this new green I decided to do a little search into its nutrient value. Aaand this is what I found out…

This lovely green grows in little rosettes, and is also known as “lambs lettuce”. It contains vitamins A & C, folic acid, beta carotene, potassium and calcium. Best of all, mâche has more omega 3 fatty acids than any other leafy green.  Good stuff.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I’ve seen it being sold in both Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods lately so I am guessing it’s catching on. Give it a try – it has a mild flavor so it is nice in salads but it can be added to soups or sauteed.
